The Belarusian player ended the tour with an outstanding 23-3 Grand Slam match record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.

A Season of High Performance

Throughout the year, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Numbers

Sabalenka finished the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and earned a historic £11m in prize money.

She garnered almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a higher level".

  • Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking extended hiatus after the birth of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
  • Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and climbing to the eighteenth spot.
  • Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
  • Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
