The network's Premier New Show of 2025 Earns a Substantial Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

In October of last year, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a distinctly unique vibe. Haha, You Clowns emerged as gentle and comforting, in the spirit of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. In an era often defined by cynicism, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and turned it into a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

In mid-December, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two additional seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four key characters.

"I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for a little longer."

A President's Endorsement

The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who found the show and supported its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, praised it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about observing this charming family go about their daily lives.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to help comedy break out of its current sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we must laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that change he described. Or at the very least, the renewal ensures audiences additional episodes to bask in the warm glow of the unique Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The entire series is available for streaming on HBO Max.
