The former president's Granddaughter Seeks Professional Guidance from Tiger Woods Before Professional Golf First Appearance
The rising star has impressive online audience
Kai Trump will have numerous well-known cheerleaders as she begins her LPGA debut later this week.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be connected to Donald Trump, obtained a special exemption to compete at the Annika tournament in the Sunshine State.
The former president, someone who loves golf, operates multiple international courses and regularly matches against his granddaughter.
"He's fairly competent. I shouldn't elaborate but we play some close matches," she stated.
She mentioned that Trump, who cannot attend, counseled her: "Just don't get nervous."
"My grandpa essentially told me to compete and have fun," she explained.
"From my perspective, he's just a regular grandfather. He's not attending this weekend. He's focused on presidential duties, so he's somewhat preoccupied."
While still amateur, the golfer has played in only three events recently and holds the 461st position in the American Junior Golf Association listings.
But she's able to receive tips from golf legend, in a relationship with Kai's mother.
"He represents the top athlete in the world," Kai stated.
"Additionally, he's a superior person. He told me to go out there, relax, adapting to the flow."
Kai will face several the biggest names in women's golf at this tournament, featuring world number two the champion, England's Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.
The LPGA mentioned that Kai's presence brings the sport to wider groups, specifically reaching the next generation.
The social media influencer boasts millions of followers and just introduced a personal clothing and lifestyle company.
Her first tee time at 17:30 GMT.
