Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his position following a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the team's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular discussions I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his team in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a spell such as this with results like these.”

He finished, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, prove once more what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
