Palestinian-American Youth Freed Following Nine-Month Period in Israeli Custody

A Palestinian-American youth having endured nine months in imprisonment by Israel absent formal charges gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention last February throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing from his Florida home under suspicion of rock throwing at Jewish settlers, claims he consistently denied.

American diplomatic officials applauded the teenager's freedom.

Currently aged sixteen, needed medical care right after being freed, according to close relatives.

Family described him as showing signs of malnutrition, and is suffering from conditions acquired while detained.

In a statement, the youth's uncle conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".

Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"At this moment, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives urgent medical care necessary for his recovery after being subjected to Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances for months."

American authorities announced ongoing to offer diplomatic assistance to the teenager's relatives.

{"American leadership considers paramount to ensuring the safety of American nationals"," officials stated.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers had signed a letter to US authorities and the administration, requesting additional efforts for his freedom.

Mr Ibrahim, with four children who runs an ice cream business in Florida, previously said Mohammed acknowledged allegations to throwing stones due to physical abuse.

He had not seen or communicated with his son following the detention, and only heard what had happened to him in detention through court documents.

The teenager remained without charge in Ofer prison on the West Bank.

The facility also contains adult prisoners, featuring prisoners sentenced regarding severe security violations and homicide.

An estimated several hundred young Palestinian detainees detained within Israeli facilities, per correctional service statistics.

Numerous remain uncharged while advocacy organizations, including UN bodies, report instances of physical abuse and torture.

Subsequent to his liberation, family representatives announced the family would also continue fighting for justice for his cousin family member Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen who the Palestinian health ministry said was beaten to death by Israeli settlers during a confrontation during summer.

At the time, the Israeli military said authorities were looking into accounts of a Palestinian had died.

Mohammed and Sayfollah had worked together in the family ice cream shop based in Florida.

No charges have been filed with Sayfollah's killing.

"We demand United States leadership to protect our families," the uncle stated.
