Individual That Touched Ariana Grande during Film Launch Banned from Singapore
A man from Australia that leaped across a fence and grabbed Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been deported and banned from Singapore.
The individual, aged 26, was handed a penalty to nine days in prison for causing a public disturbance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the country's border control stated to Singaporean press.
He forced his way beyond security and approached aggressively the performer and artist, who was present at the regional launch for Wicked: For Good on 13 November. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
He has a background of interrupting performances and star-studded occasions, including rushing the stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in this summer.
The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with several individuals claiming he of causing further distress to the star.
The singer has mentioned dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist bombing at her performance in the UK city in several years ago took the lives of 22 individuals and injured hundreds.
During Wen's trial, the authorities learned he had tried to gain access on the movie's debut twice, according to regional reports.
He then made a another effort to breach security. Protection personnel prevented him and held him in place.
Wen later posted videos appreciating the celebrity for letting him on the carpet and said he was "at liberty."
Authorities took him into custody the next day and charged him with disorderly conduct, to which the man admitted guilt.
The Presiding Judge the magistrate was quoted by a news outlet as saying that Wen was "attention seeking", noting that he was wrong to think he would not suffer any consequences.
Grande has not spoken about the situation.
Cynthia Erivo mentioned the incident to the press, stating that she "only aimed to ensure my friend was safe."
"I'm sure he didn't mean us danger, but you never know with those things, and I sought to make sure that she was OK. That was my immediate response," she commented.
