Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt ready to express about his deep grief.
"Enough time has gone by that I can now put my grief into words," shared Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began spending more time together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the production, remarking that he cannot recall "one day without joy".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles court official ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate put a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
