British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge comes as the global fight fans had expressed sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
